January 2012 Release Announced for ISAE-produced DVD series People of Faith: Christianity in America

People of Faith: Christianity in America, a 6-part dvd documentary series that takes a look at key themes, controversies, and personages in the history of the American Church, is now being offered for sale.  At over three hours in total length, the series is aimed particularly at church-based adult education classes and small groups in an effort to promote both general knowledge about Church History and discussion about the historic, contemporary and future role of the Church in American culture and society.

The six programs include “Faith in the New World: From Monarchs to the Marketplace” (a basic historical overview), “Many Mansions” (a look at the diversity within American Christianity), “Rebels With a Cause” (a look at some of the ways in which the Church has been involved in social and political reform and disputes), “The Challenges of Change” (the role of innovation in shaping the historic and contemporary Church), “Homegrown Saints” (stories of ten important and representative figures in the sweep of American Church History), and “The Future of Faith” (A discussion of current issues and future directions).

Made possible by a grant from the Lilly Endowment, Inc. grant, the series features interviews of over thirty scholars and church figures, including such luminaries as Mark Noll, Martin Marty, Rev. Joseph Lowery, Jean Bethke Elshtain, and R. Laurence Moore.  The series was written by veteran author Steve Rabey and has been crafted by producer/director Tim Frakes with assistance from documentarian Paul Butler.  People of Faith, complete with study guides and support materials will be available from Vision Video, the largest video distributor to the church market.  For more information, or to purchase People of Faith: Christianity in America, visit the Vision Video website.
